Ponoka County is home to 21 rural cemetery locations. Each cemetery has its own local manager; these managers handle maintenance, plot sales, and maintain various other historical records for each site. See the attached document for detailed cemetery locations and contact information.
In a progressive approach to assisting local cemetery managers (whom are all volunteers), the County secured provincial funding to move forward with a municipal pilot project that consisted of legally surveying all historical cemetery locations as well as the individual plots within each location. Along with the field work a database program was created to enable the County to provide a service to families searching for historical burial locations, photos of the plots and markers when available, as well as an opportunity to be informed of remaining space in these cemeteries. You may contact the County with any questions you may have, we'd be happy to assist you in regards to database inquiries within the Cemetery Director Program.
